Are you a DBT therapist or manage a DBT team? We invite you to join a research project: the DBT Program Evaluation and Research Network (DBT PERN) - a group of clinicians and programs who provide information (aka data) on how their programs work and their clinical experience – in this case with DBT.
The idea is to have a community of DBT teams and individual clinicians who are willing to respond to short surveys on a periodic basis, so when someone in the network wants to learn about how other teams do a particular thing or to answer a research question, there is a community of DBT teams and clinicians ready to answer. For instance, how long do DBT patients typically stay in DBT? What are the different ways DBT programs schedule and fund their consultation team meetings? And do these decisions matter for DBT implementation outcomes:
- Acceptability (do people like DBT)
- Feasibility (can DBT be done here)
- Fidelity (adherence of the clinician or program – is this really DBT)
- Reach (how many people are getting DBT)
- Cost (how expensive it is to run DBT)
- Sustainability (can we keep DBT going)
Surveys are completed online every 4-6 months – each survey of 10-20 questions that will take approximately 5-15 minutes.
This study is being conducted through the University of Washington.
Please click the DBT-PERN icon to access the network and detailed informational statement. If this does not work in your browser, please use this link: https://tinyurl.com/35rffhym
If participation online is a challenge for you (e.g., you aren’t familiar with online surveys, have poor eyesight or impaired motor skills, or do not have easy email or internet access…) you can participate by phone. Please call our research team at 206-744-1752 and ask about the DBT PERN study and a research interviewer can assist you.
- Should you have any questions regarding the study you can contact the principal investigator, Katherine Anne Comtois, PhD, MPH, at 206-744-1752 or dbtpern@uw.edu.
