David Luxton, a Comtois Lab collaborator, was featured in, "Suicide, Veterans and How a Simple Idea Is Trying to Combat a Crisis," Retro Report's short documentary about "caring letters," an approach to suicide prevention.
"As the nation continues to confront an epidemic of suicide, we explore the promising work of Dr. Jerry Motto, who in the 1960s, pioneered a simple, yet surprisingly successful method of treatment that is being implemented today."

September, 2018 Kate Comtois contributes to the Dr. Robert Bree Collaborative's Suicide Care Report and Recommendations as a psychologist for its Suicide Care Workgroup. This workgroup aims to develop clinical pathways to identify depression and suicidal ideation, management, treatment, and follow-up. |

Gavin Crowell-Williamson, the SCP Division 12 nominee for top poster by an APA Student Affiliate/APAGS member, was the winner of the Best Student Poster at the APA Science at Sunset Poster Competition!
Gavin was selected as the Division 12 nominee for his poster titled,
”Perceived burdensomeness, bullying, and suicidal ideation in suicidal military personnel” with co-authors Martina Fruhbauerova, Christopher R. DeCou, and Katherine Anne Comtois.
Congratulations to Gavin for winning this highly competitive award and for representing Division 12!

Kate Comtois received Military Health System Research Symposium Award for Excellence. The Military Suicide Research Consortium (MSRC) Co-Directors, Drs. Peter Gutierrez and Thomas Joiner, are honored by the recognition of the MSRC and their efforts as recipients of the 2018 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) Outstanding Research Accomplishment (Team/Academia) Award and the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 19 Society of Military Psychology’s 2018 Charles C. Gersoni Military Psychology Award. The MHSRS Outstanding Research Accomplishment (Team/Academia) Award recognizes outstanding contributions by a team of research scientists with focus on significant accomplishments of high impact achieved during the past year. Drs. Gutierrez and Joiner acknowledged the significant contributions of the Principal Investigators within the MSRC Research Program as part of the MSRC Team effort.
